MONTHLY BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP STARTS IN MAY 2008. Book discussion groups have exploded in popularity in recent years. Now, staff members of GA-Church invite you to read a book with them. We’re launching a monthly book discussion group! Meeting times will be varied – based on the book and facilitator. Future Gazettes and weekly bulletins will communicate the meeting times that have been determined by the discussion leader. Most book selections should be available at libraries, Half Priced Books or other book sellers.

The May book club selection is Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Life Together. Diane Ott-Hager will serve as facilitator for the first book discussion.

Your choice of one-of-three book discussion sessions will be offered with the intention to optimize involvement. Choose the session that works best for you:

GA Summer Orchestra…for instrumentalists entering Grade 6 through adults
We are blessed with a great many instrumentalists at GA. I’d like to organize an “orchestra” for the summer. I’m planning to have the group meet to practice once a week for most of the summer (there will be a few exceptions). People can attend rehearsals as frequently as possible, based on their schedule. The group would play for worship services three times over the summer. This can be a great opportunity to get to know more of your fellow members at GA – and for us to make music together.

“All God’s Children” Summer Choir…open to folks of all ages
Here’s an opportunity for people who enjoy singing to come together a few Sundays over the summer to sing simple “anthems” for worship services. This group is intended as a low-key, enjoyable way for people to experience making music together. Invite your family, your extended family, a group of your friends to join you on a particular Sunday.

On “AGC” choir Sundays, interested folks would gather at 9:15 a.m. to learn a very simple anthem and to sing through the hymns and songs for worship that day. That’s the extent of the commitment! Soloists and Instrumentalists Are Invited to Share Music
There will be quite a few Sundays over the summer available to folks to share their talents by providing a piece of special music at our worship services. Members of GA, or relatives who may be visiting on a particular Sunday over the summer, are invited to speak to Phil Holzman to volunteer.
